"Rejoice,
O Young Man, in thy youth;
And let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth"
                                     -Old Testament.

It was just the previous day when I observed many young people were taking hard efforts like anything at a single place. Amazed? Yep it was at gym, they were taking efforts like anything to give nice toning to their body. After meticulously observing them, (as I never take such efforts while exercising) I came to know one thing that more the efforts they were putting, more the delightful they were feeling. And in no time a question struck my mind that if each and every youth of my motherland will take such efforts in each and every field, the dream of 2020 won't be far away.
These days young people, are not putting their full efforts on studies. Is it because they lack motivation? Or is it because they don't know what will be its outcome? Unlike in gym where one does know why he/she is doing a particular exercise. But what if we know what can be the outcome of accomplishing our responsibilities? It is applicable not only for our responsibilities but same is the case with our aims and objectives. Why can’t we take our efforts in gym as a metaphor for the fulfillment of our needs and achievement of our goals? Once we are clear about the image of our aim ,we must find out the various ways for doing it. Once this is done then you should start your implementation. Like Swami Vivekananda says,
Awake! Arise! And stop not till the goal is reached.”

It is very essential that one should be passionate about whatever he is doing. If your inner acumen supports you in doing it no one can stop you from achieving it.
We have the greatest democracy of the world and we have the greatest share of youth in the world’s population. Let’s all strive hard to accomplish our duties. The most important thing is that we must cast our votes. We must exercise our power to elect our representative by voting with the aim of making our motherland a superpower till 2020. We must work hard in our respective fields to develop our motherland. Each and every one of us must try to plant at least a tree and grow it till it becomes self sufficient for its own growth. Every one of us should try to educate at least five children from slums who aren't at all aware about English. We must donate our blood; we must pledge to donate our eyes and organs for the betterment of people who are not gifted by god like we all are. We must donate clothes and other things which are used in day to day life to the Have not’s, i.e. the group which is not capable of buying such things. We must spare our time to meet the elders who are feeling frustrated in the old age homes. In our free time rather than doing mujorya and chengal (sorry! Couldn't find an appropriate word for this in English and it also doesn't convey that feeling) with our group; we must unite and think about various ways in which we can develop ourselves as well as our society. We must find our various ways to break the shackles of caste-ism. I am damn sure that once we will start putting efforts in these things we will feel more delightful to put in something extra than we can, just like the gym.
Hereby I urge you all my country mates to know our goals and work hard for its achievement and for the accomplishment of our duties. In Hindi, youth is called युवा  if we reverse its order it becomes वायू which means air. So the youth of this country is like air which can change the scenario within minutes if they decide to do so. So let’s be the वायू  and work hard from now onwards!!
                                   JAY HIND!!

POSTSCRIPT:  Many readers would have questioned that how can the accomplishment of our duties be the solution for the achievement of the 2020’s dream? But the reality is, the steps which are to be taken for this need to be taken at the highest level of the cabinet ministers and the bureaucrats. The reality also is that we are backward on the social front so it becomes cardinal that our society should be substantiated from within by our efforts to domicile the winds of globalization and privatization. This is the logic why I have telescoped a lot on social responsibilities. Any new ideas and feedbacks about this are most welcomed..

  3. (ONE OF THE BEST COMMENTS RECEIVED EVER IN MY CAREER.THE COMMENTATOR IS PROF ABHIJIT MENDHE)A very well written essay. You have made a compelling case for an ethical approach to personal sphere of life. That alone, as you say, would lead to a better society. It is an enduring dilemma, the man and his dialectic with the society. Indians tend to be better citizens when they migrate to a western country. So, is it the social ethic that maketh a better society or is it a matter of individual choice that leads unto a better world? Marx and Hegel subordinated the individual to the society and nation, respectively. But, thing is certain that without a clear sense of individualism and an equally active social conscience (the philosophical society and not A society as in caste, religion etc.), it's difficult to comprehend a better world. In India, the individual is forever subordinated to the family, the caste, the religion, the mob etc. Looking forward to many more interesting posts from you.

  7. Dude i think, thinking wont help because thats what our parents did now only action can change things RAJIV GANDHI used to say "hum dekhe gay" & well we all know wat he saw and wat he did rite now time is crutial, so the act of people is wat that matters & AFTER ALL SELF SATISFACTION IS MOST IMP FOR A PERSON

the restlessness man it kills for some i guess exercises lessen it so think about a restless mind its just an advise i m sure u will find something interesting ..................................c.k.

  8. Good work Shivam....glad to see the passion in you....just one suggestion...while reading I was bit confused about the message you exactly want to convey...was it about achievement of one's goal or on social front....but anyway it was pleasure reading...

  9. So true.... I think every of the statement you have blogged is appealing....
If it is about the social front Anyone's mind/heart (depends how it appeals u) has 2 parts.....one is eager for acceptance of positive thoughts which needs to be explored.....and the other which deals with the society's expectations from us and every time we let it surpass the first part. I think this is the main resistance in our path...we are not ready to take initiative...this is defenitely more couragious...we need self impowerment!!!

  11. ya i agree with u , but dont u think Shivam
if we will donate all as possible and as u said the person who are getting these all at free
he will be greedy and lazy ,it would creat a obstacle in vision 2020

  12. Kudos to u Dude..:)
i can say beyond doubt that these are the words of a man with a mission. Your words not only convey your ideology but also depict your dedication towards making India a better place to live in. And its true is we need to change something then its ourselves first..to give away our selfish selves and to think beyond that.. Think about the society..Think about humanity..
You're a man with a mission. A man of substance..
With the idea of India 2020 in your mind.. You're not alone..:)
    Jai Hind..!

  14. First of all CONGRATULATIONS for this well written article!!!
Secondly, I am finding it hard to compliment you for your thoughts due to lack of words...just proud to come in contact with someone who holds this big vision, keeps open space for the enlargement of its scope and has the caliber of implementing it into reality...
Further, the first thing which came into my mind was the bit of similarity I could spot in your thoughts and mine. I said 'a bit' cause I do not have SUCH LARGE VISION FOR FUTURE, where yours is commendable!! But I believe in doing it today, from now on... The only obstacle I encounter in my path is the lack of supportive background, company and surroundings and maybe, as you wanted to say, willpower..
But always off-the-shelf to share my ideas and contribute to the Nation 2020 Dream, I wish you strike these well focused goals....BEST WISHES!!!
